Notes: These garnets were collected from a quartz ledge outcrop just above (uphill) the Ore Hill Mine.
Spessartine, the Mn garnet, Mn2+3Al2(SiO4)3, was confirmed by EDS analysis.
Not particularly attractive specimens, but unambiguously spessartine.

Notes: Photo taken with LED ring light. These garnets are very brittle. They were found embedded in a quartz-feldspar outcrop. They are difficult to expose as complete crystals.

Notes: This is a particularly large Sphalerite crystal by New Hampshire standards. The crystal was exposed by carefully removing the fractured surrounding quartz.

Notes: Tremolite is uncommon in New Hampshire. It was moderately abundant on the Ore Hill Mine dump prior to reclamation. I am thankful to have collected several samples before it disappeared below the surface!
