Species: MEIONITE ? Locality: Off Pulpit Rd., Bedford, NH Specimen Size: 2 mm meionite ? crystal embedded in calcite Field Collected: Tom Mortimer - 6/5/11 Catalog No.: Collected within the Joppa Hill skarn zone area. A qualitative EDS analysis of this crystal (broken for analysis) suggested meionite or zoisite. A scapolite group mineral (marialite or meionite) has been reported from Joppa Hill for decades. Prior to this candidate, all specimens thought to be a scapolite group mineral have analyzed to be a feldspar pseudomorph after scapolite. Marialite contains chlorine, meionite does not - consistent with this EDS analysis. |

Species: SAMUELSONITE - Type 2 Locality: Palermo #1 Mine, Pod 11, N. Groton, NH Specimen Size: 2.2 cm specimen, (zoom view, 1 cm). Embedded blades of oxide stained type 2 samuelsonite Field Collected: Bob Whitmore - 1972 Catalog No.: A Bob Whitmore specimen Notes: A qualitative EDS analysis on an unpolished grain showed the Mn and Fe content lower than expected for samuelsonite: (Ca,Ba)Ca8Fe2+2Mn2+2Al2[(OH)2|(PO4)10] The silicon peak may be due to surface contamination. Black mineral on right side appears to be mostly manganese oxides. |

Species: RHODOCHROSITE Locality: Palermo #1 Mine, Pod 3, N. Groton, NH Specimen Size: 2.2 mm field of view. 0.1 to 0.2 mm rhodochrosite balls on rhombic siderite crystals. Field Collected: Forrest Fogg ex. Gordon Jackson Catalog No.: TBC Notes: Rhodochrosite confirmed by EDS analysis . Small Al and Si peaks are due to surface contamination. |

Species: JAHNSITE-(CaMnMn) Locality: Palermo #1 Mine, Pod 3, N. Groton, NH Specimen Size: 1.2 mm field of view, top photo. 0.08 mm blocky, lemon-yellow, jahnsite-CaMnMn crystals on rockbridgeite. Field Collected: Forrest Fogg ex. Gordon Jackson Catalog No.: TBC Notes: Jahnsite-CaMnMn indicated by EDS analysis . Bob Whitmore's book, The Pegmatite Mines Known as Palermo notes two species of the Jahnsite group as occurring at Palermo: Jahnsite-(CaMnFe): CaMn2+Fe2+2Fe3+2(PO4)4(OH)2 · 8H2O and Jahnsite-(CaMnMn): CaMn2+Mn2+2Fe3+2(PO4)4(OH)2 · 8H2O . For Jahnsite-(CaMnFe), the Ca:Mn:Fe:P ratios are 1:1:4:4 For Jahnsite-(CaMnMn), the Ca:Mn:Fe:P ratios are 1:3:2:4 , a much higher percentage of Mn, consistant with the EDS plot. |

Species: BERAUNITE Locality: Palermo #1 Mine, Pod 3, N. Groton, NH Specimen Size: 2.5 mm field of view. Sprays of bladed beraunite crystals. Field Collected: Walter Lane material Catalog No.: A Bob Janules specimen Notes: Beraunite indicated by EDS analysis . This beraunite is more bladed than the more frequently seen acicular variety. The gray, spherical, matrix is rockbridgeite. Beraunite is more usually found as needle-like than bladed. |

Species: GOYAZITE Locality: Palermo #1 Mine, Pod 3, N. Groton, NH Specimen Size: 1 mm rosette of crystals. Field Collected: Forrest Fogg material Catalog No.: TBC Notes: Goyazite indicated by EDS analysis , (unpolished grain). The P peak is a bit low here. I had thought this might be foggite, but moderate Sr peak in EDS plot indicates goyazite. |

Species: HUREAULITE Locality: Palermo Mine, N. Groton, NH Specimen Size: Largest hureaulite crystal is about 0.7 mm Field Collected: Catalog No.: A Joe Mulvey specimen. ex. Bill Henderson Notes: Rhombic coated tablets in foreground might be leucophosphite |

Species: ARSENOPYRITE Locality: Gingras Farm Locale, Deering, NH Specimen Size: 6 cm specimen with 2.5 cm zone of massive, gray, arsenopyrite in iron stained pegmatite Field Collected: Tom Mortimer - June 2000. Catalog No.: NC Notes: A greenish scorodite crust appears to be sporadically present on the fresh broken surface. |

Species: BERTRANDITE Locality: Beauregard Mine, Alstead, NH Specimen Size: 2 mm field of view Field Collected: Tom Mortimer Catalog No.: TBC Notes: At the Beauregard Mine bertrandite micro crystals are frequently found within altering beryl crystals. |
