Locality: Joppa Hill, Bedford, NH Specimen Size: 8 mm Ce rich epidote crystal (black) with vesuvianite (brown), diopside (green) grossular (red) and calcite (white). Field Collected: Tom Mortimer Catalog No.: 732 Notes: Two views. This is likely the largest, complete, epidote crystal found to date at the Joppa Hill locality. Three EDS analyses EDS analysis #1 , EDS analysis #2 & #3 showed only a trace amount of Ce in the Joppa Hill epidote. Prior to the EDS analyses, many collectors thought the Joppa Hill epidotes were allanite. |

Locality: Joppa Hill, Bedford, NH Specimen Size: 1.5 mm broken epidote crystal cross-section showing hexagonal-like, color zoned, growth rings. Field Collected: Tom Mortimer Catalog No.: u701, another crystal on this specimen. Notes: Perhaps the Ce content varies from one growth ring to next? |

Locality: Joppa Hill, Bedford, NH Specimen Size: Two views. 4 mm epidote crystal, Ce rich, with titanite crystals on top. Field Collected: Tom Mortimer Catalog No.: u159 Notes: Many of these near black Joppa Hill epidote crystals are moderately complex, lacking obvious prism faces.
