Species: CORUNDUM Locality: Bald Face Mtn., Chatham, NH Specimen Size: 1 mm blue corundum tablet crystal. (This is a copy of the main page photo.) Field Collected: Old label indicates "G. George '63". (Likely Gilbert George of Cranston, RI, a member of the Micromounters of New England.) This specimen was purchased from the sales table at the June 2016 MMNE Symposium Catalog No.: u1984 Notes: Same locality, crystal habit and andalusite association as Harvard specimen # 123870 . Most all of the corundum tablets on this 2 cm specimen are, unfortunately, broken. The corundum identification was verified by EDS analysis, 9/14/16. The unlabeled peak at 0.277 KeV is due to sample carbon coating. |
