Identification method: Visual. This specimen exhibits the classic "naval mine" habitat of Whitmoreite. Specimen field collected and originally identified by Janet and Steve Cares. The Cares were very knowledgeable about Palermo minerals. Steve cares collection of Palermo microminerals was donated to Harvard.

Notes: The Palermo Mine is the type locality for Whitmoreite.
