Specimen data for Leucophosphite

Tom Mortimer catalog number: u1205

Identification method: Visual. Species is reported from this locality.

The matrix is rockbridgeite, although it does not show up in the photos. Some of these xl groups are clear, some have a very slight pinkish cast (with my Solux lighting). Laminar crystal groups are present on the specimen, similar to the photo of leucophosphite from the Fletcher Mine, N. Groton, NH, as shown in the first edition of Encyclopedia of Minerals, Roberts, Rapp & Webber.

Notes: This photo of leucophosphite is as good as any presently on the web (2011) that illustrate individual crystals. The best photograph of a leucophosphite crystal known to this web author is the one that appeared in the Sept.-Oct. 1981 issue of Rocks & Minerals. It is a color photo of a 3.3 mm Palermo Mine crystal.
