Species: MUSCOVITE Locality: Keyes Mine #1, Orange, NH Specimen Size: 9 cm specimen with 1.8 cm muscovite crystal in large albite vug. Field Collected: Tom Mortimer Catalog No.: 2077 Notes: Several small blue-green apatite crystals are also visible. |

Species: MUSCOVITE pseudomorph after Andalusite Locality: Road to Iron Mine, Charlestown, NH Specimen Size: 3.5 cm specimen. Field Collected: Tom Mortimer Catalog No.: 1516 Notes: This specimen had been labeled in my collection as "andalusite" for many years due its Philip Morrill locality origin. Charles Jackson, 1844, "Geology and Mineralogy of the State of New Hampshire" page 155, states: the Charlestown, NH staurolite "passes by imperceptable degrees into a hydrous species of andalusite, which often invests the crystals with a pearly crust." This is the appearance of my specimen #1516. An EDS analysis indicated the chemical content of this crystal is muscovite, KAl2[(OH)2|AlSi3O10]. |

Species: MUSCOVITE Locality: Tripp Mine, Alstead, NH Specimen Size: 13 cm specimen of color-zoned muscovite cleavage. Field Collected: Wayne Corwin Catalog No.: Notes: A gift from Wayne Corwin at the June 2011 Gilsum Rock Swap. |

Species: MUSCOVITE KAl2AlSi3O10(OH)2 Locality: Palermo Mine, N. Groton, NH Specimen Size: 14 x 7 cm "book" of iron-stained muscovite mica Field Collected: From crate of Palermo Mine rocks given by Bob Whitmore. Catalog No.: Notes: |
|
Species: MUSCOVITE Locality: Keyes Mine, Orange, NH Specimen Size: 6 mm field of view. Muscovite crystals with iron-stained rims. Field Collected: Dana Jewell Catalog No.: u1361 Notes: |
|
Species: MUSCOVITE KAl2AlSi3O10(OH)2 Locality: Parker Mtn. Mine, Center Strafford, NH Specimen Size: 6 mm field of view. Iron stained muscovite crystals. Field Collected: Tom Mortimer Catalog No.: NC Notes: The Parker Mtn. pegmatite was mined for muscovite mica. The saleable mica was obtained in large sheets of the mineral embeded in the pegmatite body. Small crystals of mica found in albite vugs make attractive micro specimens. |

Species: MUSCOVITE Locality: Parker Mtn. Mine, Center Strafford, NH Specimen Size: Natural muscovite crystal – 5.5 cm along base Field Collected: Uncertain - acquired through trade Catalog No.: A Dana Morong collection specimen Notes: |
|
Species: MUSCOVITE (var. sericite) pseudomorph after SCHORL Locality: Allen Mine pegmatite group, Alstead, NH Specimen Size: 7 cm x 5 cm sericite pseudomorph after schorl (terminated crystal). Field Collected: Tom Mortimer Catalog No.: 1941 Notes: Sericite pseudomorphs after schorl are not uncommon, but such specimens are not routinely found in collections. |
